Bad Detective

Bad Detective

New York Dolls

This is the Dolls' version of “Bad Detective”, a novelty song written by Keni St Lewis and notably recorded by The Coasters on December 17, 1963 and originally released in May 1964. It is admittedly a product of it’s time and quite racist. It also features references the controversial book/film character Charlie Chan, as well as his chauffer Birmingham Brown.
