This was written by country music songwriter Even Stevens, who came recommended by Shel Silverstein, a prolific author who wrote Dr. Hook’s hits “Cover Of The Rolling Stone” and “Sylvia’s Mother.”

The song was subsequently added to the band’s 1979 album “Sometimes You Win”.
