“Backseat Girl” is the fifth track from Jane Remover’s sophomore album Census Designated. In her interview with Coup De Main, Jane said about the song:

“I hadn’t cried for a long time. Oftentimes I struggle to understand what makes people cry and why they do it. I had a memory of standing next to someone who was crying during a show and something overcame me – I had begun to feel inconvenienced for some reason. The song is about how I felt like I had a disregard for other people’s emotions, even though I feel so tapped into my own.”
