Girls Just Want To Have Fun

Girls Just Want To Have Fun

Cyndi Lauper

Written and demoed by Robert Hazard in 1979, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” was found and revived by Rick Chertoff and rewritten by Hazard (who retained all songwriting credits) for Cyndi Lauper.

The song was Lauper’s debut single, breakout hit and remains one of her signature songs. It reached the top 5 around the world in early 1984.

Its music video, featuring Lauper’s mother and wrestler Captain Lou Albano as her father, won the Best Female Video at the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards.
