GAYLE

Artist

GAYLE is a young artist who was raised in Dallas, Texas. Starting when she was ten years old, her mother would frequently drive her to Nashville—a ten-hour trip—for writing sessions and gigs, “at one point averaging 90 gigs in six months.” Two years later, the family eventually made the move to the music mecca, in order for GAYLE to pursue her dream as a full-time musician.

She described her style with “[writing] passive aggressive pop songs.” Influences include Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone and Adele. Songwriting is special to her and she even prefers co-writing to writing on her own.

In January 2020, the songwriter first attracted attention with her debut song “dumbass,” proving that she can write hits. The song was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist for the last week of January 2020.

She was the supporting act for the November/December 2021 tour of Winnetka Bowling League, which encompassed 16 shows throughout the United States.

With her fifth solo single “abcdefu,” which was released on August 13, 2021, GAYLE announced that she signed a record deal with Atlanta Records. A few months after its release, the song garnered more and more attention on TikTok and subsequently went viral, catapulting the song into a variety of big playlists on various platforms. In January 2022, “abcdefu” sat at the very top of the Billboard Global 200 for three consecutive weeks and was described as “the biggest song in the world” for that moment in time.

GAYLE released a successive pop-rock hit with “ur just horny” on January 19, 2022.

In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, published on February 22, 2022, GAYLE announced her debut EP release a study of the human experience volume one, which was released on March 18, 2022 and contains six songs.

With the release of “indieedgycool” on August 12, 2022, it was announced that a study of the human experience volume two would release on October 7, 2022.

On December 9, 2022, GAYLE released her third EP called a study of the human experience volume two and a half. It features new versions of eight out of the twelve songs that were released on the two EPs she released before.
