Tyreek Solomon Pellerin (born December 2, 2003), better known by his stage name SSGKobe, is a rapper from Louisiana. He started gaining popularity in the underground sphere of SoundCloud in 2018, after he posted his first track here.
He is also close to rappers coming from this platform like Summrs, Autumn!, JustDeuce, Kankan, Lil Tecca, Pasto Flocco, and even SoFaygo, with whom he often works. He is also supported by Elan Bia—who often directs his video clips, and Zack Bia, two figures known for their involvement in the music world as DJs, and who had also worked with the late Virgil Abloh.
SSGKobe began making music in 2016, influenced by his cousins who were also making music and had a home-studio. He recalls being adamant about sharing his music by fear of it not being appreciated by his local community. Kobe released his debut EP, Symbolization on May 10, 2016.
After had releasing a slew of EP’s during the span of 2018 and 2020, SSGKobe would start to gain internet success. thanks to his earlier hits such as “Sound Design,” “VTMS” with SoFaygo, “Nurse,” and “FNF.”
SSGKobe’s debut major-label EP, KO. was released on April 23, 2021, featuring appearances from BoofPaxkMooky and $NOT. The EP gained success in the year, thanks to one of the EP’s singles, “Calabasas.” That same year, SSGKobe’s career would dive into the mainstream with multiple hit singles such as “thrax” and “MIA.” Thanks to the success of those songs (along many more), SSGKobe landed a record deal with Field Trip Recordings and Columbia Records. However, due to the allegations he was facing in the beginning of 2023, he was later dropped.
During that year, SSGKobe has released two EPs in anticipation for his now-scrapped debut studio album, U4. He released U4 0.5 on March 26, 2022, and Relapsed on July 8, 2022. Both EPs do not include any features.
After dropping a slew of singles and a bit of silence throughout the rest of the year, on January 27, 2023, SSGKobe released his fifteenth EP, RAISING KO, with zero promotion. Originally, his mixtape Down To Your Soul was supposed to release on New Year’s Day, however due to the accusations he was facing at the time, he was unable to release the mixtape that day, alongside U4, which was teased for a January 27 release date. Down To Your Soul would later be released on March 2, 2023, as a SoundCloud exclusive EP. Then on July 12, 2023, SSGKobe released his seventeenth EP, Willows.
After years of material in the vault and with two projects, U4 and 9LIVEZ being scrapped, on February 23, 2024, SSGKobe released his debut studio album, Horcrux. A deluxe version of the album would then be released on April 6, 2024.
