Sammy B is a hip-hop producer and DJ who was notably part of the Jungle Brothers, who were affiliated with the Native Tongues collective. His main musical influences are: Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Minnie Riperton, Gladys Knight and Diana Ross others. He began DJing at the age of fourteen on a professional set. He cites the Jungle Brothers (1989) sophomore album, Done by the Forces of Nature as his favorite album because it was a well-rounded and touched on many life topics.

Following the release of the their 1997 album, Raw Deluxe, Sammy B departed from the group.
