Artist

Kuji (KOO-gee) – derived from Kugichagulia, the second day of Kwanzaa (December 27) which symbolizes Self-Determination. Kuji when used in Japanese Buddhism means “nine symbolic cuts” and refers to a variety of mantras that consist of nine syllables such as “I will bring it into existence.”

Born and raised in the Eastside of Dover, Delaware Kuji Young’s artistic style has been cultivated since childhood. Coming from a line of masterful visual artists, there’s no wonder where his unique talent stems from. As an artist, songwriter and producer he calls upon musicians the likes of Yasiin Bey, Sade Adu, Andre 3000, Ahmad Jamal, and Miguel as inspiration for his groovy, atmospheric sound. This sound has been recognized by The FADER, Sway’s Universe and many more.
