Philadelphia-born Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter (born May 11, 1999) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She made her debut as a child actress in Season 12, Episode 12 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In 2013 and 2014, she lent her voice to Princess Vivian on Disney Junior’s Sofia The First.

In 2014, Carpenter landed her first major acting role as Maya Hart on Disney’s Girl Meets World, a spinoff of the hit sitcom Boy Meets World, in which she sang the theme song “Take On the World” with Rowan Blanchard. The same year, she released her first single, “Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying”, which received a Radio Disney Music Award.

In 2014, after signing with Hollywood Records, she released her debut EP, Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying. In 2015, she released her debut studio album, Eyes Wide Open. In 2016, lead single On Purpose preceded the release of her second studio album EVOLution, in which she experimented with a more mature pop sound and elements of dance and tropical house.

In 2018, the Philly pop star dropped her third album, Singular: Act I, followed by Act II a year later.

Carpenter’s fifth studio album, emails i can’t send, was released on July 2022, followed by singles from September 2021, “skinny dipping,” February 2022, “Fast Times,” and July 2021, “Vicious.” The fifth album track, “because i liked a boy,” also ended up being a single after the album’s release and later received certified gold.
