Fred Wesley & The Horny Horns

Artist

Fred Wesley & the Horny Horns were an offshoot of George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic collective in the late 1970s. The group consisted of trombonist Fred Wesley, saxophonist Maceo Parker, and trumpeters Rick Gardner and Richard Griffith. Wesley and Parker originated in James Brown’s backing band the JBs, where they played with fellow future Parliament-Funkadelic member Bootsy Collins. They released two albums, “A Blow For Me, A Toot To You” in 1977, and “Say Blow By Blow Backwards” in 1979. The group also played on many recordings by Parliament, Funkadelic, and Bootsy Collins.
