Skull Snaps

Artist

Skull Snaps was a American funk trio active between 1963 and 1973. Until 1970, they were known as The Diplomats and released a number of singles with some success. After renaming themselves the Skull Snaps, they released their eponymous album on the small label GSF Records in 1973 before disappearing. They are known for the famous break on their song “It’s A New Day,” which has been sampled in nearly 500 songs.

The band consists of Sam O. Culley (guitarist, bassist, and percussionist), Ervan Waters (guitarist), and George Bragg (drummer and percussionist). Each band member also contributes vocals, as they all have strong singing voices in their own right.
