Reef of Fortune Family

Artist

Sharif Hamid (born July 16, 1991), better known by his stage name Reef of Fortune Family, was an American hip-hop recording artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Reef gained relative notoriety in the early 2010s for his work as an artist, both as a part of FF and as a solo act. Before the time constraints of his job forced him to retire from rapping, Hamid operated alongside Hop Hobson as half of the popular hip-hop duo Fortune Family. Hamid delivered several notable verses on songs like “Take Me Away”, “My Energy”, and “Young Hearts”: Fortune Family classics that have effectively accumulated millions of plays on their YouTube since 2010.

Aside from his work with Hop, Reef also delivered key verses on hit songs “Dreams” with Dylan Owen, as well “Spring” with Upper West; both songs have racked up nearly nearly 1.5 million plays on YouTube combined.

After graduating from New York University in 2013, Reef works full-time as a qualified banker in New York City. He is the younger brother of popular American author Shadi Hamid.
