Constellation of the Heart

Constellation of the Heart

Kate Bush

“Constellation of the Heart” is track nine from Kate Bush’s 1993 album The Red Shoes, the last released before her 12 year hiatus. Often described as a hit or a miss by Kate fans, it is the song on the album with the weirdest structure as it practically abandons its chorus and post-chorus in favour of a verse upon verse structure.

Apart from incorporating 2 lines directly from emotionally-heightened single “Moments of Pleasure”, there are many other references and allusions to Kate’s other songs including “The Big Sky”, “Top of the City” and even a slight link to the album Director’s Cut through the liner notes artwork.

The song hasn’t been discussed in any interview by Kate herself, but her previous partner and studio engineer Del Palmer discussed it alongside the other songs with Future Music.
