Girls Love Beyoncé

Girls Love Beyoncé

Drake (Ft. James Fauntleroy)

Drake teams up with James Fauntleroy of Cocaine 80’s for a interpolation remix of Destiny’s Child’s classic track “Say My Name,” the group of which Beyoncé was the lead singer in her early career.

The track was released through the OVO blog on April 16, 2013 and was rumored to be a single from Drake’s upcoming album Nothing Was The Same. It was later confirmed that it was a loose track from the NWTS sessions, and would not be included on the album’s tracklist.

On August 2, 2019, the song was re-released after Drake dropped Care Package on all major streaming platforms — a project he describes as “some of our most important moments together available in one place.” The release comes nearly six months after Drake re-released his breakout mixtape So Far Gone.

On “Girls Love Beyoncé” Drake puts aside his braggadocio, instead choosing to lament on, and analyze, twisted relationships and the insecurities they breed. Later that year he would team up with Queen Bey herself and examine marriage on “Mine.”
