Be My Baby

Be My Baby

The Ronettes

Released in August 1963, “Be My Baby” is the most famous song of The Ronettes and perhaps one of the most popular songs of the sixties.

The song was inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and Rolling Stone listed it as the 22nd best song of all time.

“Be My Baby” is a definitive example of Ronettes member Ronnie’s husband Phil Spector’s characteristic ‘Wall of Sound’ production, which consists of a large-scale recording of multiple session musicians who together create an orchestral sound that garnishes the instrumental portion of the song. Another example of this type of production can be found on another of the band’s most famous songs, the Christmas hit “Sleigh Ride.”
