The title “Clipse of DOOM” is a reference to the late MF DOOM, who produced this and several other songs on Fishscale under his production moniker, Metal Fingers. This beat was previously used on 2002’s “Rain Blood” on the album The Downfall of Ibliys: A Ghetto Opera by MF Grimm, DOOM’s label partner and close friend.

DOOM and Ghostface were frequent collaborators, featuring on each other’s records as well as teaming up as a duo called DOOMSTARKS. They were said to be working on a long-awaited album called Swift and Changeable before DOOM’s death. Most of the pair’s collaborations can be found on Swift & Changeable: The Prequel, a mixtape made in anticipation of the fabled project.
