“Love Shoulda Brought You Home Last Night” is Toni Braxton’s first solo single. It is also featured on the soundtrack to the 1992 film “Boomerang.”

The song was originally given to Anita Baker, but she had to turn it down due to her pregnancy at the time.

The song title is taken from a line in “Boomerang” in which Halle Berry’s character tells Eddie Murphy’s character, “Love should’ve brought your ass home last night.”

The song peaked at #2 on Billboard’s R&B chart (staying on the chart for 27 weeks) in 1992 and #33 on the Billboard Hot 100 a year later.
