“Cape Town” is the third track on The Young Veins‘ debut album, Take a Vacation!.

Arguably The Young Veins' most popular song, some say it refers to Ryan and Jon’s departure from their former band, Panic! at the Disco, since their last show before the split was in Cape Town.

However, the lyrics seem to suggest the song is about falling in love after a one-night stand with someone who didn’t care about the song’s narrator as much as he did about them. It’s largely autobiographical, as explained during most live introductions to the song:

Jon: Ryan met a girl the first night we got [to South Africa], and he came up to me about an hour afterwards and said, ‘Jon, I think I’ve found the girl I want to marry.’

Ryan: I did, and lucky for me, Jon didn’t let me, ‘cause I found out the next day that she had a husband already. In jail! True story. So this song’s about that. It’s called ‘Cape Town.’
