Self Righteous

Self Righteous

Bryson Tiller

Not long after the release of his debut album T R A P S O U L, Bryson Tiller posted a new song on SoundCloud titled “Self Righteous.” Years later, it went on to be included on the deluxe version of that project.

According to Dictionary.com, self-righteous is defined as:

Confident of one’s own righteousness, especially when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behavior of others.

In other words: One’s confidence that their own behavior, thoughts and ideas are superior to those of any other person. Bryson shows his self-righteousness in this song which is most definitely aimed at a girl he has recently been with, since Tiller gets most of his inspiration from his own experiences.

The track is produced by AYO and shares a similar vibe to Tiller’s debut album.

In an in-depth interview with Apple Music, Bryson Tiller tells us that this song was originally meant for Chris Brown:

I was gonna give it to another artist. I think Chris Brown wanted to use it, but he ended up taking another song from me, so I just said, “Fuck it.”
