Nightbus Dubplate

Nightbus Dubplate

Wiley

This is a diss track towards The Movement, a now defunct Grime crew consisting of Ghetts, Devlin, Wretch 32, Scorcher, Mercston, Lightning and DJ Unique.

This was mainly a response to Ghetts, who made a diss track towards Wiley named “North London Riddim Dubplate”, and some shots goes towards Scorcher for his diss track, and Mercston for his association with The Movement. Wiley also calls out Lethal Bizzle, Doogz, and Sharky Major, all three whom had previously clashed Wiley.

Only some of the bars addresses Devlin’s bars on “Extra Extra”, which is a diss track solely towards Wiley which many misinterprets this as a response to.

Although this diss track is belittled due to Devlin’s diss track towards Wiley. ‘Nightbus Dubplate’ is widely considered by some as one of the best grime diss tracks ever made. The instrumental (produced by Wiley himself), the fact that Wiley took on so many people by himself, and the fact that Wiley managed to make a 6 minute diss featuring multi syllable rhymes and perfected flows, are all reasons for it’s rightful acclaim.

This was also performed live on Rinse FM, a well known urban pirate radio station at the time, where he was shortly abruptly rushed by God’s Gift, which temporarily got Grime music completely kicked off of the radio station:
