Dear Percocet, I Don’t Think We Should See Each Other Anymore

Frank Iero and the Patience

“Dear Percocet, I Don’t Think We Should See Each Other Anymore” is the 7th track in the album Parachutes released in 2016.

Frank describes “Dear Percocet, I Don’t Think We Should See Each Other Anymore” in an interview as about

Searching for a clarity in things and wanting to be conscious that you could slip into a pattern of self-medication and numbing yourself, whether that be through drugs or other means. It’s about hoping that you can be brave enough and have the strength to be truly present, care about the now and leave a scar on everything you love, basically. I mean that in a good way.

At a show in Moscow Frank also described the song as being about “loving someone who doesn’t love you” – he has often said being addicted to various things, including music, can feel like unrequited love.

Frank thought of the title years ago and wrote it down knowing he would use it later in life. Matt Olsson suggested that they called this song “The Jig Is Over” but Frank knew the title had to be Dear Percocet.
