“Don’t Say” is about a lover fed up with the mistakes the partner makes, wanting to end the relationship.

It’s a track from New York City production duo The Chainsmokers, and features vocals from fellow NYC native and multi-time collaborator Emily Warren. The song is the fourth track off the duo’s debut LP Memories…Do Not Open and is the first of two songs on the album that Warren features on.

Warren hinted at her involvement with The Chainsmokers' debut album in mid-January, 2017. On March 15, she confirmed the exact tracks she was involved in an Instagram post by saying,

i’m beyond excited to say i wrote & am singing on “Don’t Say”, & “My Type”, and wrote on “The One” and “Wake Up Alone” ft. @jheneaiko
