Crying In The Club

Crying In The Club

Camila Cabello

“Crying in the Club” is the Cuban songstress Camila Cabello’s first solo single. The song is a fiery anthem about uplifting yourself after a downfall. The track was initially supposed to be on her debut album, Camila, (previously The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving) but she later revealed that it had been dropped from the final tracklist.

To promote the song, Camila sent fans part of the cover art in order to complete and reveal the artwork. She gave her first live performance of the track at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, where she also sang “I Have Questions” as a part of Xfinity Encore at the show.

Camila broke down the song ON AIR with Ryan Seacrest, saying:

For me, the club is kind of like a euphemism. The lyrics say stuff like “Let the music lift you up like you’ve never been this free, let the music lift you up like you’ve never been so high.” I feel like for me, that was more of what the writing process and what the album making process was saying to me.

In a 2019 interview to The Telegraph, Camila confessed that she regrets releasing “Crying in the Club”:

I didn’t write and it didn’t feel like me. I had the chorus to “Havana”, but I went with what was safe, what industry people said had worked before. Turns out, no one has a clue.
