“Intro: Serendipity” serves as the Intro song for the first installment of the Love Yourself Trilogy, Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’. This was lead vocalist Jimin’s solo song, out of the other four solo intros performed by the vocal line, “Euphoria” by Jungkook, “Singularity” by V, and “Epiphany” by Jin. A full length version of Serendipity was released in the last installment of the trilogy, Love Yourself 結 ‘Answer’.

On September 5^th 2017, BTS dropped a teaser of their newest single, “Serendipity.” The teaser, released through BigHit Entertainment channel, starred BTS member Jimin. This is the first intro song to be done by a vocalist.

The song title is a word coined by Horace Walpole in 1754. Scientifically, “Serendipity” is a reference to a type of discovery that is by chance and wisdom: something unexpected is observed, and the observer is wise to perceive its potential value. An example of serendipitous discovery is Alexander Fleming’s accidental discovery of Penicillin which Jimin utilizes as a metaphor in this song.
