The title of the track “QUEER” can be seen as deceiving: most people would associate it with BROCKHAMPTON founder Kevin Abstract’s sexuality.

On the contrary, this track follows the original definition of queer as being odd or strange; each verse gives reasons as to why each member is weird (Merlyn berating a designer brand, Matt being depressed despite being famous, etc).

On Twitter, Kevin Abstract confirmed that the hook is inspired by OutKast.

The song features background vocals from singer Ryan Beatty, who would later collaborate with BROCKHAMPTON on “BLEACH” and “LET’S GET MARRIED.”
