“Born to be Blonde” is the first solo track commercially released by Jesse Rutherford and the lead single for his debut album &.

In 2016, Jesse was busy with his solo project The Factoury®, but with this track, it appears that he has abandoned that alias.

The song was originally a poem Jesse had written whilst in the studio with his band The Neighbourhood, during the creation of their sophomore album Wiped Out!

According to Jesse, he attempted to create the song several times but it didn’t work until he approached producer Dylan Brady, who is a friend of Jesse’s and has worked with him before on tracks such as “Feed” and “Meantime.”

Jesse wanted to create a unique music video for the track and so he approached Zack Sekuler who has directed music videos for The Neighbourhood on many occasions.
