“Who Hurt You?” is Daniel Caesar’s first release of 2018. He has stayed relatively inactive aside from features on the Jessie Reyes track “Figures, a Reprise,” Peter Cottontale’s “Forever Always,” and most recently on the Free Nationals track “Beauty and Essex.”

The song describes Daniel’s experience with tour life, new perspectives, and throwing cash in the strip club. He also details his infatuation with a stripper who he refers to as Priscilla.

The picture used for the cover art was taken near Follies strip club in Atlanta. Based on the Craigslist ad he posted, he seems to have visited the club the day before the song’s release.

The track was released on October 16th, 2018, without any real promotion. This song features vocal contributions from Florida singer and Auto-Tune pioneer T-Pain, which marks the first collaboration between the two artists. The collaboration seems very fitting, as T-Pain has a song of his own dedicated to a stripper.
