“Que Calor” translates literally to “What Heat” in English. The song is a club banger with a beat that promotes dancing.

Major Lazer’s album Lazerism is apparently teased in many chapters, and this song was teased as the fourth chapter exclusively as well as the third chapter, referred to as “Lazerism – Chapter 4: Que Calor” and “Chapter 3: Ape Drums”.
Ape Drums is a member of Major Lazer who joined the duo Diplo and Walshy Fire after Jillionaire, a previous member of Major Lazer, left the group.

The song has a rapid flute-type beat which is also associated with a similar beat on Major Lazer’s previous project, “Make It Hot” with Anitta. It is often referred to as the ‘Indian Flute’. It is the first collaboration between Dominican artist El Alfa and Major Lazer, whereas it is the second collaboration between J Balvin and the musical trio.

The song was released as the third single from Lazerism on September 11th, 2019, and was accompanied by a music video premiere the same day. A lyric video for “Que Calor” was officially released a week after the release of the music video, on 17th September.

On El Alfa’s Instagram, it is also mentioned that the music video for ‘Que Calor’ incurred a whopping budget of 1 million dollars, making it one of the most expensive music videos of 2019 and also of all time.
