“Not Comin” is a song by Playboi Carti recorded in 2015 at Diamond Factory Studios by engineer Sunny Diamonds.

A snippet of the song first appeared in an Instagram video posted by Ian Connor on December 20, 2015. The video posted was captioned “Carti x Roy Woods” and showed Carti and Roy Woods in a club listening to the song, leading many to believe Roy was on the song. The snippet became known colloquially among fans as “Money”.

For nearly 5 years, the song was unreleased and very sought after by Carti fans. A CDQ snippet of the audio from the Ian Connor video was uploaded to Instagram by a leaker on May 29th, 2020. The song was finally leaked on June 23, 2020.

Carti had a beef with one of the song’s producers ICYTWAT over not paying him for beats, similar to what many other producers have said about Carti, most notably MexikoDro, Ethereal, and MilanMakesBeats. This is likely what lead to the song never being officially released.

On this song, Carti uses an angelic autotune and delivery that is similar to Chief Keef but at the same time is unlike anything else we have ever heard. If this is the direction he was originally taking self-titled, and had he not had his controversies with not paying many of his signature producers leading to him working almost exclusively with Pi'erre Bourne on the album, we would have likely ended up with it sounding a lot different.
