“Cry for Me” is the third single released from Camila’s sophomore studio album, Romance following the release of “Liar” and “Shameless”. Backed by upbeat production, the song finds Camila dealing from a breakup, wanting her ex-lover to feel as melancholic as she herself is feeling.

Following the song’s release, Camila took to Instagram, telling fans that although the song was only written a few months prior, it was inspired by one of her early works:

i wrote a song back when I was 16 called I’m pissed off you’re happy, about a situation where someone and I broke up and sooner than I expected, they moved on, they were having fun and happy and dating and i was just like…. what the hell, that didn’t take very long 🤬🤬🤬🤬 I took that idea and put it into this song, the feeling nobody likes to admit about feeling wild with jealousy.
