Bounce That

Bounce That

Yo Gotti

This song pays homage to New Orleans bounce music, evidenced in several ways.

One of its producers, BlaqNmilD, is a New Orleans native and has extensive experience producing bounce music. He produced the hits, “In My Feelings” and “Nice For What” by Drake.

The beat includes three elements commonly found in bounce music:
- The “brown beat” from “Brown Beats” by DJ Cameron Paul.
- The cowbell pattern and orchestra hit from “Drag Rap” by The Showboys, also known as the “triggerman beat.”

The background vocal sample is that of Magnolia Shorty, the late New Orleans late rapper. Several of her bounce classics such as “Monkey on the D***,” “Monkey Pt. 2,” and “Smoking Gun” have been sampled by Drake, London On Da Track, and Chris Brown.

With the chorus, Yo Gotti references “Get Ready, Ready” by DJ Jubilee. The song was released in 1997 and is a New Orleans bounce music classic.
