10 Commandments

Chip

“10 Commandments” is the second chapter of the beef between friends-turned-rivals Chip and Croydon MC Stormzy. In October 2020, Chip sent the first direct shots with his tracks “Killer MC” and “Flowers”, in retaliation to Stormzy pulling up to his house.

This diss-track coincides with East London MC Ghetts‘ new single “Skengman” which featured Stormzy on the 15th of January. Though Stormzy did not name-drop Chip, he sent subliminal shots about the day he pulled up, how Chip was vocal online about the situation but not in real life, and bragged about his brand #MERKY. “10 Commandments” particularly criticises the hypocrisy in Stormzy’s life with his religion and gang lifestyle – a direct response to some of the violent lyrics he rapped in “Skengman.”

Much like Chip’s 2015 diss towards Manchester MC Bugzy Malone, “Dickhead”, this track was written, recorded, and had visuals shot for in under 24-hours – showing Chip’s veteran mindset and warring ability when it comes to battling MC’s.
