“1984” sees glaive explore a past relationship and fictional time in life. Beginning with the chorus, glaive details a toxic relationship where he’d been constantly lied to, moving on from his previous partner and to find love with someone new. The second verse sees glaive reflect on his ex’s words, with a bridge that has him find himself and realize their faults.

Serving as the introductory track for all dogs go to heaven, “1984” would be the EP’s intended final single, however it would later be replaced by “bastard.” Despite this change, the fan-favorite would go on to receive a Lyrical Lemonade music video on August 25, three weeks after its release.
