“Free in the Knowledge” is a song written by The Smile on their debut album. It was first performed live by Radiohead front-man Thom Yorke at Yorke’s first performance for a public audience since 2019.

The song later appeared with a changed title (“Safe in the Knowledge”) in one of four surprise rehearsal live streams by The Smile on Instagram on December 2, 2021.

The song was released as a single on April 20, 2022 along with the announcement of the band’s debut album.
