“Surprise” is Chlöe’s third solo release. Following the same topic as previous singles such as “Have Mercy,” Chlöe explores her sexuality and freaky side.

During a livestream on May 17, 2022, Chlöe previewed the track along with “For The Night” and “Cheatback” and asked the fans to choose which song should be the next single. Even though the song didn’t have the most votes, she decided to release it as the third single. She also confirmed that Beyoncé had insinuated the decision:
