Fairweather Friends is the fifth track off Oliver Tree’s third album, Alone In A Crowd.

The track sees Tree talking about prostitutes/escorts, a theme he’s touched upon in previous songs. Tree talks about meeting them at “six-way intersections,” along with referring to them as “fairweather friends,” people who stop being friends in times of difficulty. The track also features lines about drug dealing, with Tree moving up by selling bigger portions of product.

The track would originally be discovered by fans in mid-2023, it was revealed through PPL UK’s music registry that this song was registered for Tree’s forthcoming third album, with fans using ISRC codes to put together the track list, showing this to be the fifth track.

Oliver would first tease the track on August 22, 2023 in an Instagram post asking fans to vote on which song should be the next single he releases. The vote would end up going to Essence.

Oliver would tease the track once again on September 10, 2023 in another Instagram post asking fans to vote on which song should be the next single he releases.
This time the track would end up winning the vote.

On September 12, 2023 Oliver would tease the tracks music video in an instagram post saying “10,000 comments and I’ll drop the music video for Fairweather friends”. The goal would end up being raised to 35,000 and would be met by fans on September 14th.

The track would release on September 15, 2023 alongside its music video at midnight EST.
