PVRIS (pronounced Paris) is a rock band from Lowell, Massachusetts, formed in 2012, comprised of lead singer Lynn Gunn and bassist Brian MacDonald. In 2020, it was revealed that Lynn was the sole creator of each of the band’s albums, and that PVRIS was a vessel for her musical output.

PVRIS began as Operation Guillotine, a five-piece metalcore band. They changed the name to Paris after their unclean vocalist Kyle Anthony left the band. Four of the five Operation Guillotine members made up the original PVRIS lineup: Lynn, Brian, Brad Griffin (drums), and Alex Babinski (guitar). Following the release of their debut eponymous EP, they changed the band’s spelling to PVRIS due to legal reasons of a different band already having the name. In August 2020, the band released a statement that Babinski would no longer be associated with the band amidst sexual misconduct allegations.

Their debut album, White Noise released under Rise Records, peaked at #88 on the Billboard 200 chart. “You and I” was the highest-charting single off the album, peaking at #37 on the Hot Rock Chart. Their sophomore album, All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell peaked at #41 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Their third album Use Me saw a shift in musicality, with the band departing from their rockier side to delve more into pop. The album peaked at #26 on the Hot Rock Chart and #155 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album’s only charting single was “Hallucinations” which peaked at #25.

PVRIS have won numerous awards since their formation. They won “Breakthrough Band” at the 2015 Alternative Press Music Awards, “Best International Newcomer” at the 2015 Kerrang! Awards, “Artist of the Year” at the 2016 and 2017 Boston Music Awards, “Artist of the Year” at the 2017 Rock Sound Awards, and Lynn won “Rock Sound Icon” at the 2018 Rock Sound Awards.
