The Murlocs

Artist

The Murlocs is a 5 member Australian band based in Melbourne. The members consist of Ambrose Kenny-Smith (vocals, harmonica), Cal Shortal (guitar), Cook Craig/Pipe-Eye (bass guitar), Tim Karmouche (keyboard), and Matt Blach (drums). The band is signed under Flightless Records.

The band’s genre is a mix of R&B and psychedelic rock, with Ambrose Kenny-Smith’s distorted harmonica giving the band a unique sound.

Ambrose Kenny-Smith and Cook Craig are bandmates of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard while Matt Blach is the frontman for Beans. Both bands were under or are currently under Flightless Records.

The band was formed by Ambrose Kenny-Smith in 2010. Their name is based on the mythology of the oracle.

The name came from the word “oracle.” A murloc (according to Google dictionary at the time) is a mythical creature that fiends for the oracle. A few years later that Google dictionary meaning eventually started diving into all these WoW references and it was all to late to change. None of us are fans of the game but I have sure enjoyed the fans that we draw in because of it.
