A House Is Not a Home

A House Is Not a Home

Dionne Warwick

Released in 1964 on the album Make Way For Dionne Warwick, this record would be one of her most successful singles. Written by the hit team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, the track details the meaning of home – to be safe and loved.

The song would later be covered by several artists, such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and most famously Luther Vandross.

In 1988, Luther Vandross performed the cover at the NAACP Image Awards, as a tribute to Warwick.
