Harlem-native A$AP Ferg grabs Bronx’s own Remy Ma to make the east coast proud in this promotional single for Ferg’s second mixtape, Still Striving. This is the two rapper’s first collaboration, but they both came with the hard bars. Ferg claims the title as ‘Mr. East Coast’ and Remy throws some possible shots at Nicki Minaj on her verse.

“East Coast” first premiered on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio on April 6, 2017, at 7:30 PM EST along with an interview with Ferg given by Ebro Darden, it was simultaneously posted on most streaming services, dropping on Tidal in an exclusive playlist curated by the Harlem rapper.

With the release of Still Striving on August 18, 2017, “East Coast” was not featured on the album, but the “East Coast REMIX” was featured on the album. The remix did not feature Remy Ma, instead featuring east coast rappers Rick Ross, French Montana, Dave East, A$AP Rocky, and Busta Rhymes. The remix also featured a new verse from Ferg, as well as a verse from west coast rapper Snoop Dogg.

In the video for “East Coast,” Ferg and Remy Ma rap in several locales, including a church, a hotel room, and a green-lit hallway. The video pays homage to DMX’s video for “What’s My Name” as well as Busta Rhyme’s video for “Dangerous.” Ferg confirms he channeled classic NY vibes in an interview with Billboard. Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, and French Montana make appearances as well.
