Jukebox Hero vs DJ Hero

Jukebox Hero vs DJ Hero

Z-Trip (Ft. Foreigner & Murs)

Using Foreigner’s “Juke Box Hero” tale about an upcoming rockstar as inspiration, Z-Trip and Murs craft their own story about a boy with similar aspirations of becoming a superstar DJ. Stylistically, it continues the Fat Bottoms EP, an album by Murs and Z-Trip featuring remixes of songs by Queen and Prince.

“DJ Hero” was specifically created for the video game/turntable simulator of the same name, and, in additional to turntablism, also featured the sparingly used possibility of co-operative play with a guitarist using a Guitar Hero controller.

Z-Trip provided two additional pieces for the game: the smash hit “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen mashed up with Beastie Boys' “Brass Monkey,” and a blend of Justice’s “Genesis” and a Zakk Wylde-assisted re-recording of “Bring the Noise” by Public Enemy. All three mixes were available in a “Z-Trip Presents” playlist. Finishing the set would unlock Z-Trip as a playable character. In addition to his in-game appearances, he also demonstrated the simulator at gaming conference E3 in 2009.

Although Z-Trip produced two more mixes for the game’s sequel, DJ Hero 2, the original title song did not return.
