“India” is UK rapper Lancey Foux’s ode to women and love, referring to his current relationship with Victoria Secret model Leomie Anderson. The song’s instrumental, made by “type beat” producer LouBeats, is built around the reversed melody to Playboi Carti’s 2018 song “Foreign.”

The song was first teased in an Instagram story by Lancey on July 18, 2019. He would later preview “India” in full during an Instagram live stream on August 10, alongside ten other new songs. The hype around the song grew exponentially following a snippet that was posted to Instagram later that day.

On September 8, 2019, Lancey would update his website to reveal the song’s imminent release that Friday, displaying the cover art alongside a short teaser of the lyrics:

FRIDAY
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, in the sky, it’s a face…

The song was finally released on September 13, 2019. It is the lead single off Lancey’s forthcoming sophomore studio album, Friend or Foux, following the promotional single “Catch Me If You Can” from July.
