B.B. King Freestyle

B.B. King Freestyle

Lil Wayne (Ft. Drake)

On “B.B. King Freestyle,” Lil Wayne and Drake reunite to meditate on the ups-and-downs of fame. They rhyme over a smooth jazz-hop beat courtesy of Boi-1da and Hollywood Cole, who based the track around a sample of Alicia Keys‘ 2003 song, “Feeling U, Feeling Me.”

Both the song’s title and mellow production are an homage to the king of blues, B.B. King. Weezy has experience with incorporating elements of blues into his songs, like on 2002’s “Young’n Blues.” He name-drops King on his April 2013 track, “Rich As Fuck,” as well:

I keep a bad bitch, call me the B.B. King

DJ Khaled shared a snippet of this song in a November 2020 Instagram post and announced the mixtape’s exclusive DatPiff release. The track dropped as a single on streaming services three days after the release of No Ceilings 3 without Khaled’s DJ drops.
