I Just Came To Dance” was set to be Mae’s first solo release since her platinum hit “Better Days” with NEIKED and Polo G. Mae posted a link to a Spotify playlist titled “IJCTD” on her Instagram story on June 1st 2022, beginning to tease the single.

Fans began to speculate on Twitter about the song name and Mae quote-retweeted a tweet asking if the title of the song was “I Just Came To Dance”.

The title was later confirmed to be “I Just Came To Dance” after Mae added a link to pre-save the song to her Instagram bio on the 7th of June 2022.

The song is presumed to be dropping sometime in July 2022 but nothing has been confirmed.

Mae debuted the song at the Isle Of Wight festival on June 19th 2022

Mae then revealed on July 14th 2022 that “I Just Came To Dance” was no longer the next single to be released

The next day, July 15th 2022 Mae posted a TikTok about how the release of I Just Came To Dance was delayed due to “Something wild is dropping first” which was “American Psycho” with Marshmello and Trippie Redd

And then on September 29th 2022, Mae posted a new TikTok announcing that I Just Came To Dance will be coming soon.

“I Just Came To Dance” would later be revealed as the lead single and opening track to Mae’s debut studio album, “Sorry I’m Late” which is due to be released on September 29th 2023.
