DNCE is an American band that consists of lead singer Joe Jonas, drummer Jack Lawless, and guitarist JinJoo Lee. From when the band started in 2015 to when it went on hiatus after 2018 ended, bassist and keyboardist Cole Whittle was in it.

On September 11, 2015, Jonas announced the existence of DNCE through social media. Exactly a week later, the band released their debut single, “Cake by the Ocean,” which reached the top ten on the charts in various countries. The song served as the lead single from their debut extended play, SWAAY, which was released on October 23, 2015.

DNCE released their self-titled debut studio album on November 18, 2016. It was supported by the lead single, “Body Moves,” which was released on September 30, 2016. Three out of four songs from SWAAY were also included: “Cake by the Ocean,” “Toothbrush,” and “Pay My Rent.” “Jinx” from the EP is included on the jumbo edition, which was released only in Japan on November 8, 2017.

On June 15, 2018, DNCE released their second extended play, People to People. It was the last project they released before they went on hiatus in 2018, as Jonas and Lawless resumed work with the Jonas Brothers, Jonas' other band with his brothers, Nick and Kevin, when they reunited after more than a five-year-hiatus in February 2019. It was also the last project they released with Whittle in the band, as he focused on his solo career after the hiatus ended almost four years.

DNCE announced its comeback from their hiatus on February 7, 2022. Jonas was also interviewed by Rolling Stone on the same day, in which he announced Whittle’s departure from the band and discussed the band’s future. The band was also featured on Kygo’s single, “Dancing Feet,” which served as their comeback single and was released on February 25, 2022. After that, they released the singles “Move” and “Got Me Good,” two potential singles from their upcoming second studio album.
