It was listed for 4 weeks on the US Singles Top 100. Peaking at #65 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Come Close” was the only song from Common’s 2002 album Electric Circus to make an appearance on the national music charts.

It entered the chart on position 78 on week 10/2003, it’s last appearance was on week 13/2003. It peaked on number 74, where it stayed for 1 week. It was released in conjunction with a promo video directed by Sanaa Hamri and Questlove of The Roots.

The song is produced by Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams’s production team, The Neptunes. The song’s lyrics are rumored to be a loving marriage proposition to Common’s then girlfriend Erykah Badu.
