“Nothing Is Promised” is a braggadocios trap anthem that warns about fame and its effects. The song serves as the first official single from Mike WiLL Made-It’s sophomore album Ransom 2, and it was written by Future. The song also uses a similar flow to Future’s song “Jersey” from What A Time To Be Alive.

The song was first teased in 2015 by Rihanna via a snippet on social media, and on July 21, 2015, Mike WiLL Made-It and Ryan Seacrest stated it would be an upcoming single for Rihanna’s album, ANTI. However, the track was not present on the LP’s final tracklist.

This is the second time Mike WiLL Made-It and Rihanna have collaborated for a single, the first being on “Pour It Up”, off of Rihanna’s 2012 LP, Unapologetic.
