On June 28th of 2017, a reference track of “Nothing is Promised”, the first single for Ransom 2, was leaked online. Future delivers an early version of the track, confirming earlier speculation that the song was originally his.

This version of the track features slightly altered lyrics in the first and second verses, as well as a new third verse and a revised outro. Notably, lyrics referencing violence and lean were changed for the final Rihanna track.
