J. Cole

“Everybody Dies” had been released on the Behind-the-Scenes documentary, “Eyez” that was exclusively released on Tidal. The interlude targets other members of the rap community, rappers that some would call “mumble rappers”.

Cole does not like the direction that hip hop is moving. There are many suspects as to who may have been the main target here, rappers such as Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage.

It has been documented that J. Cole and Lil Yachty have had a little bit of history together. Back in 2011, Lil Yachty had tweeted, “Fuck J. Cole”, before blowing up a couple years later.

This J. Cole produced beat samples Minnie Riperton’s “Inside My Love.” It should be noted that 2Pac also utilized this sample in the same way on his song “Me Against the World.” It’s safe to assume Cole chose the sample for that very reason, especially with the Pac-influenced-title of 4 Your Eyez Only, which was released shortly after this single was. The drums were also sampled from Dexter Wansel’s “Theme From the Planets.”

According to his interview with Angie Martinez, this song was originally meant to be a part of his upcoming 6th studio album, The Fall Off.
