“If You’re Serious” is the eighth track from The Chainsmokers' fourth studio album, So Far So Good. Taking elements of the synthpop and alternative dance music genres, “If You’re Serious” gives a nostalgic atmosphere that is reminiscent of mid 1980’s or late 2000s/early 2010s dance music. This track is one of the only two songs of the album to only be written by Alex and Andrew themselves, the other song being “iPad”, which was released on March 11th, 2022.

With the lyrics, the song discusses the topic relating to the fear of intimacy, a subconsciousness fear in which a person is too scared to be vulnerable to their significant other due to possible negative events that could go wrong in future relationships, such as abandonment and judgement.
